DIY headboard

Remember, my husband wasn't too happy that I removed my old headboard?

But I needed them for the bedframes in my new kid's bedroom.
And I wanted something like that:

So I remembered  that I had a door from a pine wardrobe I had no use for any longer.

I painted it first with some left-over teal color and then brown.
After the color dried I whitewashed it and added the letters.

Then I added some vertical small boards and sanded the whole thing.

ADPREHENDE VITAM AETERNAM
is latin for
"lay hold on eternal life"

It's from the bible and we choose this verse as wedding motto 12 years ago.  We wanted to remember it's not all about here and now, but how we live now, decicions made here, may have concequence for eternity...

The beautiful bedding is from "Princess".

Og da må eg jo bare hilse te alle de hyggelige damene her på Princess på Åkra.
Liker godt høstkolleksjonen!

Edit:

The bed got moved to the other wall. New pics:

Margitta,

This is my first visit to your beautiful blog but I will be returning! Your headboard is perfection. Truly. I also admire your bedding. I am going to sip my coffee and explore your blog -- so much goodness!

I love the bedhead, and I love the way you have arranged the pictures on your wall too (and I would never have thought of teal as an underlayer, but I can see how it adds richness).

What a beautiful idea to use Latin, it adds gravitas to anything we might want to express (couldn't resist that!) I want to see everything sub specie aeternitatis, and I called my cat Suscipe (hear me, acknowledge me) - very appropriate!

Tricia Rose, your latin surpases my shallow knowledge of this beautiful language by far... :)
But I now I added sub specie aeternitatis to my vocabulary ;)
