layering mirrors

House Beautiful Photo: Miguel Flores Vianna

I must be the queen of unfinished projects. A long time ago I announced I would give my up-stairs bathroom a mini make over.

Than I wished I never had mentioned it... :)
I'm still not done.

But I like my layered mirror.

First I thought about framing the mirror, but adding this darling thriftstore mirror (which was gold before it came to my house) adds a little interest and I'm happy with it....

Speaking about mirrors, I really got inspired by this cool DIY sunburst mirror:

Ii's Michelle from Ten June who made it.
I especially love that it's so LARGE!

Bathroom inspiration

After removing everything removable in my bathroom, I took a hot bath and did try to come up with some ideas in what direction I should go with the bathroom.

(scource unknown)

Natural/SPA ?

OR

French country?

I like both.

Some bathrooms I love:

Or a little of both?

reclaiming the bathroom

We have no master bathroom. It's not common here in Europe (Neither are walk-in closets or even build-in closets actually).

We have the downstairs bathroom, which has a shower. And we have the upstairs bathroom with a bathtub.

It was redone not long before we moved in.
So it's quite new, not very big, very functional...

but not very much ME!

But I'm a little proud on my DIY changing table though:

the side can be let down, for bathing the baby:

But now babyboy has outgrown it, and we only use the countertop in the laundryroom as changing table.
So out it goes!

And as the kids have a sink in their bedroom for brushing teeth and to wash up in the mornings...
I am reclaiming this bathroom!
In my usual low buget style this bathroom has to become mine.

I'm going to work on this bathroom this week...

bathroom re-post

This is a re-post from Spring when I did a little make-over of the downstairs bathroom.
Now I'm in the process at the upstairs bathroom, but as there's nothing to show yet and to keep my motivation up... Here you go:

not much text today...

and a before/after pic:

The curtains are made of some really old huge pillowcases. they have embroidered monograms.
The candlesticks I bought on a fleamarket many, many years ago...
