my week in pictures

The only picture been taken in the weekend. One of the kids took it.
I like this modern version of a black forest cuckoo clock.
I grew up at the bottom of the black forerst mountains.

We 've kind of adopted a cat and her kitty.

There's always laundry. I dry much of it on hampers.
TIP: For fitted sheets I use two hampers and hang it like this.

My little girl has not started formal schooling yet, but is interested in reading/writing.
That's what she wrote:

It's getting  dark early.
Time for more inside activities.
Playing games.
Or sleeping.

It's cold. It's rainy.
It's windy.
It's fall.

bathroom re-post

This is a re-post from Spring when I did a little make-over of the downstairs bathroom.
Now I'm in the process at the upstairs bathroom, but as there's nothing to show yet and to keep my motivation up... Here you go:

not much text today...

and a before/after pic:

The curtains are made of some really old huge pillowcases. they have embroidered monograms.
The candlesticks I bought on a fleamarket many, many years ago...

blogging and inspiration

First of all I want to welcome all my new readers and followers.

I think it's so amazing that I put some images of my old painted kitchen out here...
and get so many sweet comments and encouraging words from you amazing folks fom all over the world!

And I'm happy that I had the chance to get accquainted with some of you via your own blogs, e-mails and facebook!

And all that inspiration I get from other blogs!

I may not live in my dream home nor do I have a big budget, but YOU inspire me...
to make MUCH of NOTHING!

Okay, MUCH out of LITTLE! ;)

My ultimate goal:

Make a HOME for my FAMILY!

Want to see my Inspiration files?

is where I put all images and links I do not want to forget.

fall wreath

After seeing all these wonderfull coffeefilter, bookpages and burlap wreaths around blogland, I had to make my own version of it.
A combination of old pages from a book,
a little burlap
and some wool...

And here's the finished wreath:

Isn't hot glue an amazing invention?

And I shall give this wreath away in my up-coming "Give away"

Piano decoration

Mr Viking dislikes stuff on the piano.

But it's one of the few surfaces out of reach for babyboy.
So I can't help myself.

And besides, if there's NO stuff on there,
very quickly there will be ALL KIND OF STUFF piled on top pf the piano!
Not so pretty STUFF.

my weeks in pictures

Food always seems to accumulate in my fridge.
This week I planned a *make dinner from what's in the fridge* menue.
Today we started with some fish the boys cought together with Grandpa in Sommer.

Trying to do sillhouettes of the kids....
Decoration project comming up soon!

Buns right out of the oven,
waiting for the older kids till they come home from school.

Been to a soccer match with Jonny.
He's the little guy in the middle.

first snow

Happy weekend to everyone!

That's all...

I made this week.

I painted five letters on a piece of driftwood.
Not so much creative energy at the moment.

But that's ok.
I'm at peace with it.

On so many blogs I've read lately:
Do less. Be more.
There is a time for everything.

Peace

This is a painting by William Strutt.

It's called 'PEACE' and refers to a passage in the bible:

The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.

Isajah 11,6

I have a copy of it hanging above my sofa.
(It's huge!)

And it's one of my favourite things in my house.
(It was my greatgrandparents, so it's approx. 100 years old.)

Peace in the sense of quietness we have little at our house...
(there are four children practising piano every day)

But for me Peace is best described in one of my favourite hyms:

It is well with my soul.

Liv-Hilde og Tønnes si hytta

NOTE: Sorry, but this post has to be in Norwegian.
It's about two special people and the little hut they built in their front yard just to be even more hospitable than they had been before.

my week in pictures

NOTE:
I mainly blog about decoration, DIY, etc... but
as this is actually just a part of my life I thought  I start a
"my week in pictures" post on Fridays to share a little more of what is going on otherwise.

even before breakfeast we had to deal with a little boy playing football in our entry...
 and missing the goal.

Fall break, but the boys went to soccer school,
studying the local sports news in the paper afterwards.

Beautiful weather. Everybody's out playing fotball.

Daddy's not home, we make up for that having a candle light supper.

I wasn't feeling too well this week, so I did a little reading.
Thriller is not really my choice, but Mr Viking had picked it up in London while being there with his job earlier this month. But it was a good read.

Why do children love to build play houses?
