hiking

There was one Saturday in September where the sun was shining from a blue sky.
We decided to let all other projects be and take a family hike.

The goal was a kind of fortress / military defence ruins from WW2.
(When Norway was under German occupation the Nazis build a lot of stuff like this along the coast, because they thought the alleys might try to defeat Nazi Germany from the north.)

We did not find any trail, but we knew it was somewhere behind these rocks.

Rocky it was...

and there where bushes and heather ...

but the kids loved it. The youngest wanted originally go to the playground. So I told the kids:
Hey, this is God's playground and much more fun then all man-made ones!
And fun they had.

As a mother of four boys I'm learning that sometimes I just have to look away and pray they wont get injured...
Yes, two of the boys climbed all the way over these rocks!

The view was magnificent!

And then we saw the fortress.

The only problem was there was a kind of valley between there and us, and it looked very sumpy.

But we made it to the other side ... not everybody had still dry feet, but most of us had!

Going up there... oh the view!!!

Towards the south, the area of Stavanger.

Boys climbing again.

Food break.

Exploring.

Resting.

But never for long.

Finding the balance.

On the way back we took the trail. We were amazed how less time it took us to get back to the car.

But much less fun.

Hoping for more nice weather Saturdays this year!

weekend

I started to paint our bedroom grey yesterday - love it so far... :)

But today it's Sunday and we had sun...

In the woods we went, meeting up with some other families from church...

My two oldest boys and I followed the trail a little further up and enjoyed the view
(and some mommy-time ;)

Some places the trail was pure ice...

Just enjoying the beauty of God's creation.

I'm busy today, preparing for a small family concert we are going to host at our house tomorrow...

I just wanted to share this cozy norwegian christmas tradition of hanging some wheat outside, so tiny birds make it through winter...

And... Welcome to new followers!

again...

I have shown pics of my hut on the deck a hundred times, so if you are tired of them do not read on!
I just have to document any changes. And that changes acure quite regurlar around here you have perhaps realized by now!
I moved the bench from my dining room into the hut (because I moved a sideboard fom the living room to the dining room...)

Love how we use this space now as soon as temperature allows...
I even see us sitting there in winter with warm jackets and plaids dinking warm cacao!

home made currant juice

Is there anything better a warm summerday than chilled home made currant juice?

The only problem is we hardly have had any warm summerdays so far....
but enjoying ourselves still :).

As soon there are some sunrays its wonderful outside.

Happy summer to all my dear new and old readers!
I have been so busy recently that I have not been so active in blogglandia...
Ha! Actually I start looking forward to cozy autumn evenings!
Hasn't each season its own appeal?

There is a challenge at NIB (norwegian interior decoration site), to show a picture titeled
 "summer interior".
What picture should I choose?

Summertime

Her blir sommermåltider tilberedt.

(Farge forslag?)

Finally a bit of summer has come to the norwegian westcoast. This week we had the first time up to 70 degree, but little sun and quite windy. But as soon as the weather allows we have our family meals outside. Soon Mr Viking will have vacation and we'll do some travelling and have friends and family visiting.

Happy summer to you!
