tea time

With the colder weather arriving, I find myself drinking tea again.

I cook my water, using an old water kettle.

And I put the tea tray together again...

Cups, small spoons, brown sugar and a good variety of teas.

African rooibos tea is my favourite right now.
Come over, let's have some tea.

wood flooring

We had a some rather quiet and slow holidays apart of last Saturday, where my father-in-law and my husband worked hard all day laying the new floor.

There's still quite some things to do, doors must be re-installed and molding has to be attached.

The floor is ash with some white-washed finnish. I love it. And I have waited patiently for several years for this type of flooring coming for sale. Now it was for sale for a reasonable price. :)

My Kitchen

(May 2010)

Because NIB's challenge in March is to show our kitchen, I took some new pics today...
(hence my cleaning frenzy the last days ;)

These cute boxes are from this shop: AnnaJohanna.

There are no major changes scince I painted the kitchen last April.
Babyboy got a amall table and chair - and he loves his little space...

And after our old fridge broke down we got a new (to us) side by side...

One of the best decissions when painting my cabinets was to remove some of the doors.

To add an old desk as kitchen island has worked very well aswell.
And the sawhorse is a favourite spot for the kids to eat some snacks.

And this is how the kitchen looked before:

kitchen talk - I need help!

Yesterday 10.30 pm I started to declutter and scrubb my kitchen kabinetts. I was restless. Sometimes it's convenient to channel such feelings into something productive... ;)

Two weeks ago I got so frustrated with my inability to keep my kitchen neat and clean, that I joined the Flylady.

So now I dutyfully shine my sink every evening and slowly this shining habit spreads to other areas of my kitchen...
Are you keeping up with the dishes?
Have you experience with flylady? Did it work for you?

Any other suggestions to help to keep a kitchen clean?

tips for baking cookies with children

  • make the dough in good time beforehand
  • schedule the baking when the baby naps

  • dress the children in cute costumes - so it gets even more fun!

  • let them go into action while you pray for strengh and patience

  • enjoy looking at these small hands working together

  • risk that your kitchen looks like this after the children are done

  • when the baby is up, dress him up, too
  • let him have as many cookies as it takes you to clean up the kitchen

  • after the kitchen is cleaned up enjoy a cup of coffee with your husband - if he happens to be around

  • hope the cookies will last for at least three days

Thanks

I have a friend who knows exactly what I like. For my birthday she gave me this adorable *GOD JUL* (Merry Christmas) stencil.

Which looks decorative as it is,
but easily transforms a simple burlap pillow.

I store flour and sugar in those old milk churns, btw.

Cozy breakfast on a thursday morning in November.

(no one realizes that there is some molding missing... !?!)

Happy Weekend, everyone!

Kitchen

Its a long time I posted kitchen pics... (because it's rarely totally tidy and clean there  - there I said it!).

Old pic - but it still looks basicly the same.
I'm very glad I choose to remove the doors on this cupboard.
Its the stuff we use EVERY DAY and it's so much more accessable.

I really consider to remove the doors on the upper cabbinets aswell - half of the time they are not properly closed anyway.

Before christmas I hope to get around to do some small improvements and finish some stuff I didn't do in spring...
But I start looking forward to decorate for christmas.

lysestaker...

God helg!
