entry and fall

I love rowan berries. They are quite common in our area. Nearly nobody is picking them, because many believe them to be poisonous. Which is not true. They are not good to eat uncooked but very good for making jam. I made rowan jelly some years ago and loved it.

Today I picked a bag full and I am going to make jam tomorrow. But I used some for a fall wreath in my newly renovated entry :).

When we moved in three years ago I just quickly painted over the dark yellow walls, but was never to happy with the bubbly wallpaper underneath.

Before:

So now in summer handy Mr Viking converted this IKEA wardrobe into a build-in, and made his wife extremly happy!

I re-wallpapered the walls and my handy husband added some paneling.

But than there are the stairs... I am in the process of painting all the wood panel in the staircase (nearly done!). And than we are going to rip the carpet and replace it with WHAT???

But first the rowan jam... ;)

31 days of...

Some of my favorite bloggers in America are doing a "31 days of.... " in October. My favorite is

writing each day of October on fall decoration.
Yesterdays task was to create a warm, welcoming entrance to our home.

Ha! That's just what I had focused on last week, so I had not much do to there.
Today she wrote about a clutterfree environment.
Having seven people in the family to spread their mess around, de-cluttering and tiding up is a constant task.

But I tackled the living room and dining room today.

Other "31 days of..." bloggers I like are

AUTMN - HØST

Just to be with Nester's mantel party I made my own fireplace recently.

"Høst" is norwegian for fall (harvest).

Scince the "fireplace" is in my bedroom I keep the decor simple.
The little vase I got from a friend perhaps fifteen years ago.
It's the recent years I really cherrish its timeless beauty.

fall decoration

I'm not a fall decoration expert. I do not like orange or rusty reds...
but I like nature.
moss
branches
leaves...

So that's my fall decoration.

This are branches from a bush I have in the garden .
It looks rustic on our old front door which desperatly needs a coat of paint...
