CSI project

Read about CSI project here. It was difficult to choose a project. But I came up with this candlestick:

I wrote about it here.
First I cleaned and whitewashed the log a bit.
It had three holes when I found it, but they were a bit too big for standard candles.
Therefore I hotglued these construction metal things on top, which happened to have the exact hole diameter for candles :).

I added the letters with help of a stencil.
I like the simple but rustic look of it...

For my regular readers, heres the first glimpse of my new livingroom wallpaper.
Pretty standard and boring, I know...

kitchen hutch

I have this little hutch in my dining room.
For several years I have decorated with white or cream dishes.
Today I craved some color.

I love how it changed the whole dining room.

And the best thing is that if I'm done with color, it'll be two minutes and the white dishes are back... ;)

this and that

We have been one week to Norways longest fjord (Sognefjorden) on a bible conference. Being together with others in this beautiful setting is always the highlight of the summer for our family.

This is btw 10.30 pm, while waiting for the ferry to cross the fjord and finally reach our destination after a 9 hours trip.
Now we're back home and had some busy, rainy days with visitors...
And now I am desperatly trying to hang some wallpaper on my living room walls before more visitors are coming... I'm really looking forward to get my livingroom back to its tranquil, tidy state.

March 2010

Right now while I prepare the walls for wallpapering in one corner, some crazy kids (are they mine?) build houses out of furniture and quilts and pillows in another corner...

 two building engineers

too impatient to move in before the "house" is finished

Oh well, kids have to be kids...

recovering a stol

Some years ago I found this cute little stol at a thriftstore. It used to be brown wood with a reddish falmed fabric on top.

This week a dear familymember spilled a glass of milk on it...

So I recovered it again.

But first I printed some coordinates on the fabric.

First I thought I use the coordinates of our home... but I really did not want all of you to know the exact spot where we live ;), so I founnd the coordinates of a mountain top in the blackforest which has a special meaning to me.

I sprayed it with some scotchguard to make it more durable.

Now this dear little stol reminds me of a cold december night on a mountaintop in 1996 when Mr Viking asked a question...
I answered YES.
And now I am Mrs Viking.

my guestroom

Her blir sommermåltider tilberedt.

(Farge forslag?)

Finally a bit of summer has come to the norwegian westcoast. This week we had the first time up to 70 degree, but little sun and quite windy. But as soon as the weather allows we have our family meals outside. Soon Mr Viking will have vacation and we'll do some travelling and have friends and family visiting.

Happy summer to you!

special treat in the evening...

Beeing a mommy can be wonderful, but some days it can be hard, too. Sometimes it's okay to not sweep the kitchen floor in the evening, but rather to make a good salat...

and just relax
just enjoy that the house is quiet
just arrange the chair so one does not see any mess and
do NOT look at the floor...

Tomorrow is another day to tackle these floors, and all the other tasks a large household requires.
One day at a time.

"As your days, so shall your strength be." Deut. 33:25
